( Based off of the song "Daylight" by Maroon 5 )
Here I am waiting. I'll have to leave soon. Why am I holding on? Eric Masters stared up at the ceiling with a deep scowl. One naked arm rested at his side against the bed, the other wrapped tightly around Sarah Harper's shoulders, her beautifully naked and willowy body draped over his toned, tanned and muscular upper body. He looked wistfully in the direction of the window, the waning moon casting a soft glow against the white cotton bed linens. Looking down at her, he sighed deeply. What the hell am I doing? This wasn't like him. He wasn't the type of guy who spent the night at a woman's apartment, much less linger around to cuddle after two amazing bouts of sex. And yet, here he was, unable and unwilling, to pull himself away from her. Slowly sliding his hand up and down her back, he let his fingers dance down her spine, caressing her soft, sun-kissed skin. Glancing in the direction of the nightstand, he found it was nearing 4 AM.
He dragged a hand through his short, dark, wavy hair and exhaled sharply, his gaze wandering back to the window. When daylight came, he would have to go, but maybe sooner was better than later. No way in hell was he wearing the same outfit two days in a row.
If you don't get your ass moving, you will. He rolled his eyes.
Sarah began to stir.
Shit. His heart thudded. Frozen in panic, he slowly turned his head to look down at her.
She emitted a soft and weary moan, her soft strawberry blonde hair caressing the ridges in his abdomen as she lifted and turned her head. Her warm breath danced across his skin, sending a wave of heat rushing straight to his member. He bit his lip, stifling a groan. Slowly, Sarah turned her head, peering up at him, her lingering fatigue casting a gray fog over her ordinarily bright hazel eyes. She greeted him with a tired smile. “Hey.” “Hey, gorgeous.” He smiled softly, reaching out and tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. She blinked, her jaw going slack. “You're still here.”
But I shouldn't be. “For now, but I'm going to have head out pretty soon. I have to be at work in a few hours.”
She nodded, folding her arm over his chest and resting her chin on her hand. “Right. Of course you do. I'm sorry, I didn't mean for this to happen.”
Well shit. He froze, furrowing his brows.
“Oh--” her head shot up, “no! Not that. That was. . .”
He arched a brow, his heart pounding. Go on, say it.
A blush rose into her cheeks, a naughty smile creeping across her face. “Incredible.”
He beamed from ear-to-ear. That's what I thought.
“What I meant was I didn't mean to keep you this late. No doctor should have to function without sleep. I'm sorry.”
He shook his head, slipping his fingers into her hair, his hand finding the nape of her neck and drawing her closer. “Don't be.” Capturing her lips, he rewarded her with a tender kiss, yet another first for him since he never did anything tenderly.
